Haakon/Lenai Winery is a dedication to our children, a reflection of our family’s journey in wine growing, and a commitment to the extraordinary land we are privileged to farm. Named for our children's middle names, Haakon and Lenai, the winery carries forward a family tradition inspired by my father, who named a wine brand after the middle names my brother and I were given. It represents more than a lifetime spent among vineyards and barrels. It is our family’s pursuit of excellence, and celebration of the land, and a legacy we hope to pass on to future generations.

Our vision for Haakon/Lenai begins with our estate vineyard, nestled high in the Dundee Hills AVA. Shaped by millions of years of geological evolution, its ancient volcanic soils, varied elevations, slopes, and exposures create a remarkable diversity of growing conditions. Within this estate lie special blocks, each possessing its own character, personality, and potential. These subtle differences inspire us to explore the individuality of the land and discover what makes each site truly exceptional.

Having grown up surrounded by vineyards, soil, and the craft of winemaking, I have developed a deep appreciation for the relationship between land, farming, and wine. For Marque and I Haakon/Lenai is an opportunity to take that understanding further. Through biodynamic farming and a focused exploration of individual vineyard blocks, clones and exposures, we seek to reveal the distinctive qualities of our Dundee Hills estate through Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Every vintage offers another opportunity to learn, refine our approach, and better understand the remarkable places we are fortunate to farm.

Haakon/Lenai is intentionally small in scale and singular in purpose. Our current exploration centers on the most compelling blocks within our Dundee Hills estate, allowing us to expresss their individual character with precision and authenticity. While our family wine growing journey extends across multiple estate vineyards, Haakon/Lenai provides and opportunity to explore these remarkable sites on a more intimate level. It is a deeply personal pursuit, driven by curiosity, human connection to the land, experience, and the belief that truly exceptional wines begin with extraordinary vineyards.

Haakon/Lenai is a family-owned small production estate winery and vineyard in the Dundee Hills AVA of Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Founded by Cody and Marque Wright, Haakon/Lenai produces limited-production estate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay exclusively from organically and biodynamically farmed vineyards. Cody Wright is the winegrower and winemaker.
